Ricky Knight

Born Jan. 25, 1996, in Elkridge, to Richard Knight Jr. and Rosemarie Napolitano.
Died June 2, 2008, of brain cancer, at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was 12 years old.

Ricky was an energetic boy with a larger than life personality who loved sports.   He lived with his family in Elkridge, MD.  He attended Rockburn ES, then Elkridge Landing MS before passing away at 12 years old after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Ricky played football with the Elkridge Hurricanes and play basketball with HCYP.   He loved all Sports and shared that passion for sports with his dad, Rick Knight.

Ricky’s mom, Rose Napolitano, is the youngest sister of HC Elite coaches Bill and Dan Napolitano.  Bill is the Director of Basketball for HC Elite Basketball and former long time Director or HCYP Basketball.  Dan Napolitano is a long time coach for HC Elite Basketball, Western Howard County and Glenwood MS.

Rose Napolitano:  We thought this tournament was the perfect way to honor Ricky’s memory. First, because Ricky was true competitor who loved being part of a team. Even during his cancer treatments, Ricky continued to play sports including baseball, football and basketball. Second, Ricky would want more than anything to know that no other child would have to endure what he did and that no other family would have to suffer this loss. Raising awareness and helping to fund those searching for a cure for pediatric brain cancer is the best tribute we can pay to Ricky.
